FILMS MADE WITH A LOT OF LOVE AND A LITTLE HORROR.
Love and Horror Productions was born from Jamie Alvey’s love of storytelling and dream to one day operate her own production company. Alvey, joined by frequent co-conspirators Emily Fabrizio and Callie Kirk, decided to launch her production company Love and Horror in December 2023 to fund and produce the short for Alvey’s award-winning and much lauded proof of concept screenplay “Your Husband Was a Good Man.” Since then we have come a long way, morphing from a fledgling company to a vital up and coming voice in the horror genre.
Love and Horror Productions is dedicated to creating quality horror and telling stories that are gritty, gory, and gripping. Here at Love and Horror we believe in the idea that beauty is terror and horror storytelling is both appealing and vital to the landscape of culture and creativity. Horror is often a mirror, showing us the ugliness and the filth that lies beneath veneers of respectability. It is important to prioritize inventive horror storytelling in an inclusive and meaningful way now more than ever.
Creativity comes first at Love and Horror. We put the vision before profits and want to make sure our stories are told and our workers are paid. It’s a simple business model, and we believe that it is one that can thrive in the long run because in a world that often devalues art and artists spaces that put creatives and creativity first are important and necessary. We strive to be a space that does just that.
We are a woman owned business that operates on intersectional feminist values and seeks to change the face of horror to make a more inclusive genre. Our first production had a cast and crew made up of 50% women and employed over 50% creatives of marginalized and intersectional identities (including but not limited to BIPOC, LGBTQIA and neurodivergent individuals). Currently, we are in our third year of life as a business and working diligently on crafting ore necessary horror. Our second short, aptly titled “The Second Circle” is due out on the festival circuit later this year. We look forward to sharing the love and scaring you too for years to come.
